"Too Different" (2017)

(Close-up)

"Live" is a Mixed-medium piece that comments on the issues of mental health awareness and never knowing when to save a life. (2017)

Black love through the ages was a concentration piece I made in my Ap Art class in high school. In the class, I decided to demonstrate and research the concepts of black queerness in periods of time starting from before the 18000s and beyond towards the "future". In this, I wanted to demonstrate a series of instances between black queer men that reflected the environment they were in. In constructing this, I found the history of black queer men to be as expected, hidden, and almost unrecorded. I suppose the result of little information, attempted to be made into illustration correlates with the juvenile technique that I have grown from as the years went by. But in a great sense of self-promise, the need for this steadily suppressed existence of queerness will always be a part of my work.

"He's watching me" in this dimly lit painting I wanted to showcase the paranoia of believing you are being watched. In many cases the worst fear is judgement from one's own self. (2021)

"Untitled" continuing the collection of cardboard cut outs, with pastel illustration you see what looks to be an alien couple in a serious fight. I find this to be another attempt in stretching the believability of a situation, with subjects that hold only a cartoons quality. (2019)

"man" made from oil pastel crayons is a piece that represents the concept of a trans man. In this colorful drawing, I wanted the trans identity to be hidden, only for me to understand the subjects journey. (2018)
